A Thank You from St. Labre Elementary School

May 8th, 2010

The Indian children at St. Labre smile and wave, but never really ask for much. If you get a chance to visit with them, their enthusiasm can be contagious.

It’s hard to believe that innocent Native American children like these often face such uncertain futures. Many of them are being raised by a grandparent, an aunt or uncle sometime even by an older sibling.

Some have no home at all. That’s why our recent contribution meant so much to them.

Seeing their joy is our reward.

    Albert Einstein once said;

    Strange is our situation here upon earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to a divine purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: That we are here for the sake of others…for the countless unknown souls with whose fate we are connected by a bond of sympathy. Many times a day, I realize how much my outer and inner life is built upon the labors of people, both living and dead, and how earnestly I must exert myself in order to give in return as much as I have received.

    How true this is can only be appreciated when one gives of himself without seeking reward.
