April 22nd, 2010

Say NO! to the Winnetou Trademark - Sign our Petition to Free Winnetou!

The Winnetou Trademark has been approved for registration on the 21st April 2010 with a statement of use that employed the products of Universum Film. The new owner Ms Sabine Niederberghaus-Lesavoy claims herself to be a German citizen and the official Karl May Verlag representative.

Now is the time for all Karl May fans to bond together and oppose this affront to the noble Apache Chief.

The time for litegation has finally come ….

This is indeed a sad day! But this approval does open the door to have the trademark extinguished once and for all. Especially since the new owner used the products of others to gain this mark, passing them off as her own.

Indeed the time for litigation has finally come. I have already been in touch with:
    Universum Film – US Lawyer
    US Department of Commerce
    The German High Court
    The German Trademark Office
And all parties that will be effected by this approval .

I sincerely hope that Nemsi Books can successfully “mount the ramparts” in its efforts to disprove the questionnable ownership of the Winnetou trademark. Certainly, after your dedicated and longtime efforts to bring Karl May’s books to American readers, only you are worthy and deserving of obtaining the trademark. Let’s trust that doing what has to be done will yield positive results. Lots of luck!

Thank you for your kind comment Mr. Boehm. Nemsi Books’ battle against the trademark is not aimed at attaining the trademark for itself. It has been our long held belief that Karl May’s Winnetou and the message that is embodied in all of Karl May’s writings must not be owned by any one individual or entity. Rather we desire that Karl May’s works remain free to be interpreted by future visionaries so that the message of peace and tolerance can circle the globe unhindered.
